About the Artist

I haven't always considered myself an artist, though my talented sculptor-mother made sure that I was surrounded by and participating in the art world.  Attorney, town councilman, police commissioner, fundraiser, those were my identities. But since retiring from that world I have been able to concentrate my focus, energies, and creativity and have worked to truly become an artist.

The driving force behind all of my work is color, because it brings me joy.  Employing acrylics, watercolor, oil pastel, colored pencil, inks, (sometimes all at once) I create images on canvas, paper, yupo, and large planks of wood.

Some of my work serves a utilitarian purpose, for example floor mats and place mats.  Some pieces are purely whimsical and decorative, like my 6’ wooden fish. Some are more traditional pieces of art. But all are composed of colorful shapes that happily burst forth from my imagination.

I have fun at every step of creating a new piece.  My mind, eyes and hands all work together, and I find myself grinning as the bright colors dance. As the artist I have become, I strive to spark in the viewer that same playful feeling.
